The VMware Academic Software Licensing Program supports the use of virtualization applications in teaching and research.
Academic Software Licensing provides software licenses for teaching, research, and gaining hands-on experience with VMware products. It cannot be used for campus infrastructure, non-academic purposes or any for-profit activity. An annual subscription fee enables qualifying academic faculty and students worldwide to gain easy access to cutting-edge virtualization technology and resources for computer science or research projects. Participating departments are responsible for purchasing an annual subscription for their department for faculty and students to have access to VMware software licenses.
